Terms of Use
These Terms of Use apply to the Keyty macOS application and the Keyty website.
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Keyty, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the application or website.
About Keyty
Keyty is a free, open-source macOS application that displays keyboard and mouse activity in real time for uses such as demonstrations, presentations, tutorials, screen recordings, and livestreams.
Open-Source License
The Keyty source code and application are made available under the BSD 3-Clause License.
Your rights to use, copy, modify, and redistribute Keyty are governed by that license. If these Terms conflict with the BSD 3-Clause License regarding the licensed software, the BSD 3-Clause License controls.
The Keyty name, logo, website design, and other branding are not granted for use under the software license unless expressly stated otherwise.
Acceptable Use
You may use Keyty for lawful personal or commercial purposes.
You are responsible for how you use the application, including what appears in overlays, recordings, presentations, shared screens, and livestreams.
You must not use the Keyty website or related services to:
- violate applicable law;
- interfere with or disrupt the website, update infrastructure, or related services;
- attempt unauthorized access to systems or accounts;
- distribute malware or other harmful material;
- misrepresent your relationship with Keyty or its contributors.
Sensitive Information
Keyty displays input events received from macOS. You are responsible for reviewing what may appear on screen before recording, streaming, presenting, or sharing your display.
Avoid entering or displaying passwords, financial details, private messages, personal data, or other sensitive information while Keyty is active.
macOS may block event capture in some secure-input situations, but this behavior is controlled by the operating system and is not guaranteed by Keyty.
Website and External Services
The Keyty website may provide links to third-party services, including GitHub, Homebrew, Apple, and email applications.
Downloads, updates, issue tracking, and other features may depend on services operated by third parties. Their own terms, privacy policies, availability, and technical requirements may apply.
Keyty is not responsible for third-party websites, services, content, availability, or security.
Software Updates
Keyty may check for and install updates using Sparkle.
Updates may change features, compatibility, appearance, system requirements, or behavior. There is no guarantee that updates will always be available or that older versions will continue to be supported.
Availability and Support
Keyty and the Keyty website may be changed, suspended, or discontinued at any time.
Support, maintenance, bug fixes, documentation, and responses to questions are provided on a best-effort basis. No response time, resolution, update schedule, or continued support is guaranteed.
No Warranty
Keyty is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
This includes no warranties that Keyty will:
- operate without interruption or errors;
- be compatible with every Mac, macOS version, application, or workflow;
- display every event accurately;
- prevent sensitive information from appearing;
- preserve recordings, settings, files, or other data;
- remain available or supported.
The warranty disclaimer in the BSD 3-Clause License also applies to the licensed software.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Keyty's copyright holder and contributors will not be liable for direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, consequential, or other damages arising from or related to the use of, or inability to use, Keyty or the Keyty website.
This includes damages related to:
- exposed or recorded information;
- lost recordings, work, data, profits, or opportunities;
- compatibility problems;
- interruption or application failure;
- reliance on displayed input;
- third-party services or downloads.
The limitation-of-liability provisions in the BSD 3-Clause License also apply to the licensed software.
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated when Keyty's functionality, distribution, website, third-party services, or legal requirements change.
The updated Terms will be published on the Keyty website with a revised effective date. Continued use of Keyty after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the BSD 3-Clause License and the Privacy Policy, form the complete agreement relating to your use of the Keyty application and website, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Effective date: August 2, 2026
