Privacy Policy

Keyboard and Mouse Input

Keyty processes keyboard, mouse, modifier-key, scroll, and media-key events locally on your Mac to display them in its visual overlays.

Keyty does not:

• store captured keyboard or mouse events;
• transmit captured input off your device;
• collect window titles, active application names, or screen contents;
• use captured input for analytics, advertising, or profiling.

Captured events are used only for real-time visualization.

Keyty does not include its own detection or filtering of password fields or other secure text fields. macOS may prevent event capture while secure input is active, but this is operating-system behavior and may not apply in every situation.

You should avoid entering, displaying, recording, or livestreaming sensitive information while Keyty is active.

macOS Permissions

Keyty requires the macOS Accessibility permission to observe keyboard and mouse events through system event-tap APIs.

Without this permission, you can still open Keyty and access non-capture parts of the application, such as its settings and information screens, but live input visualization will not work.

Granting Accessibility permission does not cause captured input to be uploaded or shared.

Local Settings

Keyty stores application preferences locally using the standard macOS UserDefaults system.

These settings may include visual appearance, overlay behavior, update preferences, and other application configuration.

Keyty does not use iCloud, CloudKit, or another cloud-storage service to synchronize these settings.

Local settings generally remain on your Mac until you reset them, remove the application's preferences, or delete them manually.

Analytics, Telemetry, and Crash Reporting

The Keyty application does not include:

• usage analytics;
• telemetry;
• advertising trackers;
• profiling systems;
• third-party crash-reporting SDKs.

Keyty does not create or maintain its own application log files containing captured input.

macOS may independently create system logs or crash reports as part of its normal operation. These are managed by Apple and the operating system rather than by Keyty.

Software Updates

Keyty uses the open-source Sparkle framework to check for and install software updates.

The update feed is published through:

Update files are normally hosted as assets on GitHub Releases.

When an update check is performed, the hosting infrastructure may receive standard network information such as your IP address, request time, and user-agent information.

Sparkle may also provide an optional anonymous system-profile feature. When enabled by the user, update requests may include basic technical information such as:

• Keyty application name and version;
• macOS version;
• preferred language;
• hardware model;
• memory;
• CPU type, subtype, count, frequency, and 64-bit capability.

This information is intended to help evaluate compatibility and general system usage. It does not include captured keyboard or mouse input.

Website and Analytics

The Keyty website is deployed using infrastructure designed for Vercel hosting.

The website uses Vercel Web Analytics. This includes custom analytics events for actions such as clicking download or GitHub links.

These analytics are used to understand general website usage and improve the website. Keyty does not use Google Analytics, Plausible, PostHog, or another non-Vercel analytics platform.

The website does not include:

• user accounts;
• payment processing;
• newsletter registration;
• comments;
• authentication or session systems;
• user-submitted web forms.

The website primarily provides product information and links to GitHub, downloads, support email addresses, and other external destinations.

Keyty does not directly operate a separate server-log collection or storage system. Vercel may process and retain standard infrastructure information under its own practices, including IP addresses, request metadata, browser information, and security logs.

The Keyty website does not intentionally set advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies. Vercel or other infrastructure providers may use necessary technical storage as part of delivering their services.

External Links

The Keyty application and website may open links to external services, including:

• GitHub repositories, releases, and issues;
• Homebrew;
• email applications;
• Apple and macOS services.

When you follow an external link, the destination service may collect information according to its own privacy policy. Keyty does not control the privacy practices of external websites or applications.

Support and GitHub Interactions

When you contact Keyty through email, you voluntarily provide information such as your email address, message contents, and any attachments you include.

Support correspondence may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to the request, investigate an issue, maintain relevant records, or prevent abuse.

When you create or comment on a GitHub Issue, discussion, pull request, or other public GitHub page, the information you submit may be publicly visible. It may remain available until it is deleted by you, the repository maintainers, or GitHub.

Do not include passwords, captured input, private documents, or other sensitive information in support messages or public GitHub submissions.

Third-Party Services

Keyty relies on the following third-party services or technologies:

• Vercel for website deployment, infrastructure, and website analytics;
• GitHub for source-code hosting, releases, downloads, issue tracking, and community contributions;
• Sparkle for application update checks and installation;
• Homebrew as an optional third-party installation method;
• Apple and macOS for application execution, system permissions, event delivery, system logging, and crash reporting.

Keyty does not include other third-party services that process captured input or make application network requests.

The availability and behavior of these services are governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.

Data Sharing and Advertising

Keyty does not:

• sell personal data;
• share personal data for targeted advertising;
• display third-party advertising;
• build advertising profiles;
• use personal data for cross-service tracking;
• profile users based on keyboard or mouse activity.

Information may be processed by the infrastructure providers described above when necessary to operate the website, distribute the application, provide updates, or respond to user requests.

Information may also be disclosed when required by applicable law or when reasonably necessary to protect the security, integrity, or legal rights of Keyty, its users, or others.

Data Security

Reasonable measures are used to limit unnecessary collection and processing of information.

However, no application, website, network transmission, hosting provider, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for reviewing what appears in Keyty's overlays before sharing your screen, starting a recording, or beginning a livestream.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when Keyty's functionality, website infrastructure, third-party services, or legal obligations change.

The revised policy will be published on this page, and the “Last updated” date will be changed accordingly.
